Founded in 1899, Sutton Grammar shares Sutton's first-stage 'Selective Eligibility Test' with five other schools — the five academically selective grammar schools plus Greenshaw High School, a comprehensive that uses it only to allocate a limited ability band, not full grammar admission. Its second-stage exam is shared specifically with the other two boys' schools, Wallington County Grammar and Wilson's, while the two girls' schools run a separate second-stage sitting between themselves. - Two stages. Stage 1, the Selective Eligibility Test (SET), shared across six Sutton schools including one non-selective comprehensive using it only for ability-banded places. Each school sets its own SET pass mark independently. Stage 2, held on a Saturday in September or early October, comprises one Maths paper and one English paper — not shared consortium-wide, but split by gender: a boys' sitting shared by this school, Wallington County Grammar, and Wilson's School, and a separate girls' sitting shared by Nonsuch and Wallington High School for Girls.
