Unlike Aylesbury's other two grammar schools, which are single-sex, Sir Henry Floyd is co-educational throughout. - Two papers sat on the same day in autumn of Year 6, each about an hour, assessing verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. The three age-standardised areas are summed into a single Secondary Transfer Test Score (STTS).

- An STTS of 121, automatically qualifying a child for a Buckinghamshire grammar school place — written directly into the underlying test-provision contract as a fixed requirement. A lower threshold of 110-120 applies to Free School Meal/Pupil Premium-eligible children, for up to 6 places above the standard admission number.

Oversubscription runs through care status, then a combined catchment-and-Pupil-Premium criterion, siblings, staff children, then straight-line distance.
